FAQ's
What is The Busy Bee Society?
The Busy Bee Society is a sensory-based Mommy & Me playgroup designed for babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Our classes encourage learning through play while helping little ones build confidence, social skills, creativity, and independence in a welcoming environment.
What ages are your classes for?
Our play sessions are designed for children from approximately 12 months to 5 years old. We offer age-appropriate activities so children can explore and play at their own developmental level.
What happens during a session?
Each session includes a variety of hands-on sensory stations, themed activities, music and movement, imaginative play, and opportunities for children to explore at their own pace. Every session is designed to encourage curiosity while having lots of fun!
Do I stay with my child?
Yes! The Busy Bee Society is a caregiver-and-child experience. Parents, grandparents, or another trusted adult participate alongside their little one throughout the session.
What should my child wear?
We recommend comfortable clothing that can get a little messy. Some sensory activities may include water, paint, or other materials that are washable but can stain light-colored clothing.
Is sensory play messy?
Sometimes—and that’s part of the fun! We use child-safe materials and do our best to keep the mess manageable. We encourage families to embrace the learning that comes with hands-on exploration.
Are your sensory materials safe?
Absolutely! We use non-toxic, age-appropriate materials whenever possible. While many of our sensory bins are taste-safe, we still encourage close adult supervision, especially for younger children.
Do I need to register in advance?
Yes. Registration is required because class sizes are intentionally kept small to create a comfortable and engaging experience for every family.
Can siblings attend?
Yes! Siblings 12mo to 5 yrs old are welcome if they are registered for the class. You’re welcome to bring infant siblings under a year for free.
What if my child has allergies?
Please let us know about any allergies before class. We make every effort to accommodate dietary and sensory needs of our participants.
What if my child doesn’t like getting messy?
That’s perfectly okay! Every child participates differently. We encourage children to explore at their own comfort level and never force participation.
What are the benefits of sensory play?
Sensory play helps children develop:
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Language and communication
- Problem-solving abilities
- Creativity and imagination
- Emotional regulation
- Confidence and independence
- Social interaction
Most importantly, it supports learning through fun and exploration.
How long are the classes?
Most sessions last 60 minutes, giving children plenty of time to explore while keeping the experience engaging and age-appropriate.
What if we miss a class?
Our makeup policy depends on availability. Please contact us as soon as possible if you’re unable to attend, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Do you offer private events?
Yes! The Busy Bee Society offers private sensory-themed sessions for homeschool groups, preschools, HOA’s and other community events. We are not currently hosting birthday parties. Contact us for availability.
How often do you change your themes?
We introduce exciting new themes twice monthly to keep activities fresh, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Families who attend bi-weekly will enjoy a new experience each visit.
What should I bring?
Just bring:
- A water bottle or sippy cup
- A change of clothes (just in case!)
- Your sense of adventure!
We’ll take care of the rest.
Is The Busy Bee Society inclusive?
Absolutely! We welcome children of all abilities and strive to create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment where every family feels valued.
